Odoo Experience 2022 was held in Brussels, Belgium from 12 to 14 October 2022. In the Keynote - Vision & Strategy talk on day two, Odoo's CEO Fabien Pinckaers presented the company's vision and strategy.
Where other years have been aggressive — comparing Odoo against competing ERP vendors and the like — this time the main subject was the change to the pricing.

Odoo's 2022 in review
This past year: zero acquisitions, zero new products, zero funding raised.

What went in instead was effort on building the product.

The change to the pricing
We plan to write a separate post about the change to the pricing, so please look there for the detail.
Until now Odoo's pricing added a per-app charge on top of a per-user charge, which favoured larger companies with many users.
Below is a graph of the software price per user against a company's headcount. The pale blue line is the value of the software; the pink line is Odoo's price until now.

A survey of other companies' software prices came to $484 per user for the main apps alone, the equivalent of what Odoo covers. Odoo includes the other apps as well, and needs no development spend to connect the pieces to each other.

The figure below is Odoo's new pricing. The per-app charge is gone; there is only the per-user charge.
With a single Enterprise app it is free, whatever the number of users,
the Standard plan without customisation is €24.90 per user, and the Custom plan with customisation €37.40. (In practice, the price in Japan is based on dollars, not euros.)
※ The discounted price applies only for a new customer's first 12 months.

As for existing customers: where the new price is cheaper than the current one, the new price applies. Where the new price is higher than the current one, the current price is kept. In both cases all of the apps are available.
(※ In the latter case, online customers billed monthly are excluded.)

Introducing Labodoo
Odoo is putting effort into education at the moment, and sends Labodoo — a truck loaded with the kit for Odoo training — out to schools around Belgium. It is free, and apparently booked solid six months ahead.
It would be good to have something like this in Japan too.

Implementation ①: KPMG
The managing partner of KPMG Belgium told the story of their Odoo implementation.
Among the episodes: the system stopping when 100 people uploaded the same invoice at once during training, and KPMG's own people ending up better at presenting Odoo than Odoo's staff.

Implementation ②: eggo
This was the CEO of eggo, a Belgian kitchen builder, speaking about their Odoo implementation. They brought in logistics, inventory, purchasing, field service, CRM, HR and accounting, and it was harder going than they had assumed at the outset.
They chose Odoo, they said, because they needed a system that was simple and integrated, for their staff and for their customers alike.
