Accounting
Credit limits
A credit limit is set per company and per partner. When that partner's uncollected invoices reach the limit, a warning appears on a sales order or a customer invoice.
Analytic accounts
Analytic tags and groups are gone, and analytic accounting is new. The analytic widget lets you set each analytic item as required or optional, and set the share allocated to each item.
Analytic distribution templates can also be set up.
Cash discounts
Set a cash discount on a payment term and the detailed discount conditions appear on the invoice. On receipt or payment, the amount after the cash discount is calculated automatically from the payment date.
OCR on vendor bills
Where the OCR result needs correcting, select the field to correct and click the place on the bill you want read again, and it is assigned to the right field. Clicking the reload AI data button reloads the AI data.
Recurring entries
Set up an entry that occurs regularly and it can be posted automatically.
Reconciling receipts
The reconciliation screen is completely new. Bank transactions are in the left column, the transactions to reconcile against in the right.
Reporting
The accounting reports have been redone and perform better. Comparing against analytic accounts and analytic plans is easy.
Drilling down from a report is now possible.
From a line in the journal report, for instance, you can show the image of the vendor bill it links to.
Dashboards
Spreadsheet-based
The dashboards have been redone, and spreadsheet-based report dashboards come ready from the start.
Edit the spreadsheet and the dashboard follows dynamically.
Dark mode
Dark mode is now available. Easy on the eyes!
In summary
From V15.0 to V16.0
According to Odoo's blog post "Meet Odoo 16": "over the past year, our R&D team focused on substantially improving many existing features and on developing the features our customers asked for most."
It is true that no flashy new app stood out in this version. In exchange, performance is better and the existing apps have gained a great deal, which left me wondering whether Odoo is entering a mature phase.
Turning out a new version properly, year after year, is impressive. What features will arrive a year from now is already something to look forward to.
