AI-assisted software development has moved fast these past few years. At Quartile we have brought AI (Claude Code) into our Odoo add-on work, and are building a development setup that is both higher in quality and more efficient.

Odoo suits AI-driven development

Odoo's Community edition is an ERP published as open source.

Because the source code and the framework are public, AI can read and analyse that code easily — which makes Odoo an unusually good fit for AI-driven development.

Working with AI has brought two large gains:

  • lower development cost
  • faster development

Both are already showing up in the work.

Tasks that used to take a long time are now quicker, so we get value to customers sooner.

AI does not make everyone a developer

That said, having AI does not mean anyone can develop.

Using it effectively still takes:

  • a deep understanding of how Odoo works
  • knowledge of the business domain
  • the skill to give it the right instructions (prompts)

None of the three is optional.

AI is a very powerful tool, but using it properly takes expertise.

How we handle security and quality

AI-assisted development carries risks of its own:

  • security risks
  • quality risks
  • code generated that nobody intended

So we never take AI-generated code as it comes.

Every change is reviewed by more than one person, and that is what assures the quality.

We treat AI not as a replacement for developers but as a tool that makes developers stronger.

Our track record as an Odoo specialist

Quartile has worked as an Odoo-specialist systems integrator since 2013 — implementation and development, operation and maintenance.

It is precisely that long experience that gives us the footing to use AI both safely and effectively.

AI × Odoo × a track record

That combination is what lets us deliver more.

AI is still a developing technology, so we keep at it by trial and error — carefully, and with some ambition.

AI is beginning to change what development is.

We will keep building Odoo add-ons with AI, with safety and quality first.

We are also actively looking for people interested in AI-assisted development.
