The Hitachi Area Industry Support Center told us their interest was in Odoo as OSS, so I explained the open source ecosystem and the knack of implementing Odoo by making use of OSS, and introduced the OCA modules below. (Since the audience did not turn out to be all that familiar with Odoo's standard features either, leaving them rather blank-faced is something I should take on board.)

On "making use of OSS", the advice I give is to take part in community activity yourself, and where taking part yourself is difficult, to get the help of a provider that is active in the community.
This time I was able to talk with the attendees by voice, which made it more interactive and easier going than the recent live webinar. Having questions from people who know their own operations well also let me index things in my own mind and find the points I should follow up, so I think it was time well spent. Making the time is not easy, but I came away thinking it would be good to take part in events like this now and then, or hold them myself, and mix widely with people who have taken an interest in Odoo.
