The 2025 OCA contribution ranking is out

The OCA (Odoo Community Association) has yet to announce it officially, but the figures for OCA activity in 2025 have already been compiled. A little ahead of the announcement, then, here is how much Quartile managed to contribute to the OCA last year.

For the 2024 OCA contribution ranking, see this post as well.

What Quartile and its members achieved

Over the past few years we have been putting our internal arrangements in order at Quartile, and working on the skills of each member.

On top of that, our customers' understanding and cooperation let us take on OCA work, and 2025 turned out to be a year in which we contributed more than ever.

According to the compiled data, this is what Quartile and its members did in 2025.

Ranking by organisation:

Quartile: 127 PRs / 16th (2024: 56 PRs / 26th, 2023: 65 PRs / 22nd)

Ranking by individual (out of 1,001 people):

MemberRankMerged PRsReviews
yostashiro18th3 PRs (2024: 2 PRs / 346th 2023: 6 PRs / 213th)476 (2024: 68 / 57th 2023: 86 / 34th)
AungKoKoLin199734th103 PRs (2024: 51 PRs / 37th 2023: 54 PRs / 30th)161 (2024: 48 / 72nd 2023: 35 / 88th)

Figures in parentheses are earlier years.

What are "PRs" and "reviews"?

A quick word on the terms.

  • PR (pull request) The mechanism for proposing a new feature or an improvement to the OCA. "Merged PRs" is how many of those proposals were actually taken up.
  • Reviews Checking another developer's PR and suggesting improvements. At the OCA a PR is never merged without review by a third party, which makes reviewing a very substantial contribution in its own right.

The big result of 2025

In 2025 we were able to build an OCA module for the consolidated invoice with a mid-month cut-off, which matters a great deal to Japanese companies.

It answers a Japan-specific requirement that had been a problem for years, and it is a practical piece of functionality for many companies. We are still adding to it to make it easier to use.

Quartile's X (formerly Twitter) account posts about our OCA work and the news around it. Do give it a follow.

Looking to 2026

OCA work is going well in 2026 too: as of January we sit 10th by organisation.

The ranking is not what we are aiming at.

All the same, it is straightforwardly pleasing to see the daily accumulation take a visible form.

What OCA work means

OCA work calls for

  • a deep understanding of Odoo's standard functionality
  • development knowledge
  • an understanding of requirements specific to Japan or to an industry
  • the design skill to work out how to meet those in Odoo

all at once.

We think "does this Odoo partner do OCA work?" is going to become one of the yardsticks for choosing a partner.

What comes next

In 2026 we want to do more than keep up our own OCA work: we want to spread it among Odoo partners and users in Japan.

We will be putting more effort into telling people about it, too.
