One way of contributing to open source

We have become a sponsor of OCA for the first time — a Bronze sponsor, at EUR 1,000 a year.

Personally I have renewed my membership every year since 2020 and have kept up a GitHub sponsorship, but this time the sponsorship is the company's.

For the last few years we have quietly kept up community work inside OCA as a company — raising PRs, reviewing, translating — but the thought of becoming a sponsor had honestly dropped out of view entirely, so we have belatedly decided to contribute something financially as well. It is also, in part, one answer to the grumbling I set down at some length in an earlier post.

The money goes to running OCA, and indirectly, resting on that, to creating and improving the many community modules that complement Odoo and the machinery that keeps their quality up. If even a little more benefit reaches our customers and other good Odoo users and community members as a result, so much the better.

Looking around at the other sponsors, most are players who combine active community work with a steadily established business, and a very small company like ours is rather the exception. We intend to keep working at it, so that we can hold our own against them and produce good results — in contributing to the community and in growing the business alike.

If you like solving problems

If you want to use open source to move companies' DX forward for real,
why not do it at Quartile?
